Lightning strike !

Lightning strike !
A recent thunderstorm took out my telephone, broadband modem and computer.
The telephone inlet box and modem have been replaced and are now working again.
Would you have any ideas on what might have blown in my Packard Bell ixtreme?

What are the current symptoms?
What happens when you press the power button?
Any lights? Any Fans? Any beeps?
-
Hello Jephree, the current symptoms are --- nothing whatsoever!!!
Everything appears to be dead.
Pushing the start button (which is not illuminated) does nothing and no fans nor beeps !
-
could it be the psu or the actual socket itself? have you tried something else in that socket like a lamp or something?
-
Hello Madmikejt12,
The socket was the first thing I tried. It is working O.K.
I assume that a lightening strike could fry a few components, but I need to know where to start .
How can I tell if the PSU is working? Is there a simple way of testing it?
Your reply is greatly appreciated.

Following a recent thunderstorm, my telephone, broadband modem and ixtreme6004 computer have ceased to work.
The telephone socket and modem have both been renewed ond are working well, but my computer seems to have no power getting to it.
The electricity socket is O.K.
What are the sequence of tests that I can follow to find out what has "fried"?
How can I test the PSU to begin with?
Regards, Gerald-the-Celt.

Do you have another computer to test it on?
What sort of electrical testing devices do you have?
-
I have access to another computer, the same make, but a different model.
The only equipment I have is a small multimeter - which can detect AC and DC volts.
-
If you unplug the 24 pin Main PSU connection to the motherboard & then directly connect the PSU to the house power you should get some detection probing the 24 pins with your multimeter.
Just try all the different settings & keep probing... Anything at all? Or Nothing at all?
Perhaps the more expedient test would be to try the questionable PSU in the other computer.

I've taken your advice and tried the suspect PSU on another computer ( the one I'm using now ) and it is working O.K.
What a surprise!
The problem computer still appears to be completely dead, having tried both PSUs without success.
I would greatly appreciate some advice on what to do next?
