I have a dell optiplex (slimline case) running Windows XP...it has a 6.4 GB hard drive, I want to run red hat on the machine but the BIOS will not recognize any other hard drive.

If I run master/ slave it can see the other drive but if I remove the master I keep getting no drive. Even setting the drive as master
( I can't remove XP it's my daughter machine for when she has room )

Just an assumption is that some part or check of the BIOS in on the 6.4GB drive.

Cannot you do your red hat setup on the slave configuration?

http://support.ap.dell.com/docs/Syst...n/sm/index.htm it's the small form factor chassis, so no room to put a slave drive not to worry I'll sort something out one way or another
