Monitor in persistent vegetative state

Re: Monitor in persistent vegetative state
Well, no luck with anything so far. I tried system restore, tried installing the Hyperion 4in1 drivers, and even uninstalled all my display adapter drivers and installed the card like it was new, still nothing. When I tried reinstalling it, same thing, wouldn't even get display from it using the windows generic drivers.
I can't believe the card is fried, it looks perfect, and I've never done anything more taxing with it than sending Divx files over to my television - never played any games with it or anything. I KNOW it hasn't overheated.
But I do remember, my woodshop teacher of all people, telling me that 99% of all mechanical failures occur during startup or shutdown.
I dunno, I'm mad and frustrated and have no clue what to do from here, except wait on an answer from the EVGA boards. Jephree, thanks again, and if you have any further ideas, I am all ears.

I am still trying to understand how this relates to the Avast reboot ???????
Any new errors in the Event Viewer?

No, nothing new except some TCP/IP errors that happened, it looks around the time I started up without the network cable plugged in.
And I tried uninstalling avast even, no change. So I guess maybe it doesn't have anything to do with AVAST, it was probably just coincidence that it happened when AVAST wanted to reboot.
This is the first time I've been thankful to have onboard video, I tell you.
