Hi everybody, I have a Dell Dimension 2350 Desktop Computer, I went to clean it on the inside and something broke.... lol... Um you know the "all metal" thingy that looks like a box, we'll you know the hooks that would hold that thingy down.. we'll there both broke because I hooked them in too hard..![]()
Can anyone tell me what is that called? Both the block of metal or steel thats inside that computer and the "hooks" that hold it down, I want to buy the hooks only, But I dont know the name of it and how to go about asking customer service for it...(Im going to buy it online). Any help would be very appreciative![]()

Maybe you can ID the part with this link:

This probably relates to your other thread as well.
Especially if you are refering to the heatsink/ CPU.

Thats it! Its the thing in the bottom, not the latches or the heatsink, its the bottom part, the one that has a close up, the thingy that holds the latch down, thats whats broken. How can I get that part only?
Thank you so much for this info! I really appreciate it!![]()
is that the "heatsink base"?
That's as good a word for it as I can think of.
How are those four legs attached to the board? Are they screwed thru?
If so I would remove the base and take it to a computer repair shop to see if you can find a match.
Also I would wonder how it is broken? Like can crazy glue help? Did one of the squares break? Anyway you can patch it?
etc.
Should have scrolled down ...![]()

I think Its unrepairable, unfortunately, Im going to have to replace the base with a new one, but at least I know what it is. Thank you so much!Originally Posted by jephree
