CheckSum Error plus the Date & Time indicate a dead CMOS battery.

Also if you are using XP it would be neccessary to do at least a Repair Install.

I have replaced the battery but still no luck! do you think the 420W is enought to run Athlon64 with PCI-Express 16X ???
Its a good PSU Brand (TAGAN) ....

    cheers

    That PSU should be fine.

Did you load the motherboard software? Set BIOS defaults?

Many other tips in these links:

    thanks jepheree...

so you suggest the PSU is enough! so i assume its the boards problem, propably a CMOS corruption? since the board is brand new and my first time upgrade to 64bit CPU... do you think i should return it and get them to get me another board?

Are you sure the board's software was installed correctly?

Did you check out some of the ideas in the previous links? There are alot of different ideas in there.

    hey jeph,

what do you mean the board's software was installed correctly?

i just set up the system! and thats what i got on first boot-up
i post this prob on another forum www.ozzu.com and sum1 regons its the PSU...
do you know how to calculate the right PSU for ones system? is it adding up all the wattage consumed by each component?

    cheers...

I read your other thread & I don't know enough about PSU's to add to it.

I made an assumption that 420W would be plenty for a desktop system.

Just also noting from the manual all the connections:

    24-pin ATX Power Connector: PWR1

    ATX 12V Power Connector: PWR2

    AUX PEX PWR connector: J2A1

    We strongly recommend you use
24-pin power supply. If you want to
use 20-pin power supply, you need
to align the ATX power connector
    according to the right picture.

The manual also shows a driver & utility CD to install for the board.
That is what I was thinking of as to the software.

Hopefully a more electrically minded eye will look in on this.

From the links I posted in mesage #4 most of the issues I see relate to the BIOS.

    thanks jeph!

assuming the 420W isn't powerful enough i tried this:

disconnecting everything from the mainboard and PSU except the

    1) Mainboard which hosts the PCI-E Graphics (Radeon x600XT 256MB), RAM, and CPU
    2) One Hard Drive which has Windows Xp Home already

Boot-up the system runs fine, when i restart it won't start up again. The computer is running coz all the fans are going but nothing on screen.

To solve this i have to fully turn off the system from the wall, or reset CMOS. Doing this enables something to be showed up on the screen...

has anyone experience this b4? do you think its my PSU? (its a pretty good one)
i'm having this feeling it could be the board itself, maybe corrupted cmos or something

I have seen this before but can't at the moment pin down my links.

It is all pointing to the same issue of the BIOS/ CMOS not retaining settings.

Which is indicating a power problem at some level. But I would suggest at a low level.

If the battery is good & all your connections are good:

    24-pin ATX Power Connector: PWR1

    ATX 12V Power Connector: PWR2

    AUX PEX PWR connector: J2A1

    We strongly recommend you use
24-pin power supply. If you want to
use 20-pin power supply, you need
to align the ATX power connector
    according to the right picture.
I would also verify the integrity of the Mains Outlet & Power Surge Protector.
