    New Hardware caused freeze?

I recently installed a sound card, and downloaded the drivers from soundblaster.com. It appeared to load ok, until I was prompted to click "OK" to continue with installation. After clicking ok, it just froze. I rebooted several times, but the same thing happened. I went and bought Soundblaster Audigy 2 and it installed fine..I was able to hear CD's, play games, etc.. for about 10 minutes. Then, the mouse and icons all started "flickering", which was very annoying, so I shut it down and rebooted. Now, when it gets to the "Windows is Starting Up" screen, it freezes. I can't do anything..no mouse movement, no F2 keys...nothing. Please help. Thank you.

Do you know how to boot into Safe Mode? I think there are different ways of doing this depending on your version of Windows but try hitting F8 repeatedly while the system boots up, just before the "Windows is starting up" screen.

Once in Safe Mode, right-click on My Computer and go to Properties. Select the Device Manager tab (or the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button). Do you see any entries with a yellow exclamation mark next to them?
