Laptop monitor problem, goes black and then returns
Mi laptop monitor goes black and then comes back very fast, like flashing, and wile it makes this it makes a little very hard to detect sound, after flashing a lot it goes completly black but like at the background you can still see windows, is like the monitor has no light or something. I dont know what this could be, i toke the computer to a repair shop and they told me the inverter and light were good and that the lcd was just dying and had no repair, but this is har to believe for me, because why does it still work sometimes. A friend told me it could be a shortcircuit in the motherboard, i opened the computer and found nothing very obvius, but im no expert, any help, ideas or opinions are are really apreciated. Thanks.

What is the make & model of the laptop?
Did this just start happening?
Does it happen from start or only after it has been running for a while?
Does Windows work OK? Is it just the display?
Are the batteries OK?
Does it do the same when wired thru an AC adapter?

Hi, thks, well the computer is a sony vaio fx-677, this started about a month ago by itself, no changes where made, this happens after it has been runing a wile, about 4 to 10 minutes , windows works fine, i have even tried it with an external monitor and theres no problem, the battery is old and works only for a few minutes, if it does the same when is with ac or not, im not really sure because a couple of weeks ago when i unpluged the ac, the computer stoped flashing and the display worked fine, however i tried it a wille a go and apparently i saw no change, the computer continued flashing. Thanks for the help.

If you remove the battery & just plugin do you still have the problem?
Sounds like a power/ battery issue to me.

I tried it, i removed the battery and used it only on ac, it worked fine for about 5 min or less, and then it started flashing. Maeby its a power issue but i dont know how. However i dont think the display is dead as they told me on the repair shop or do you think i should change the display? Thks.

If an external monitor works fine then I would be drawn to the problem being the laptop display.
The 4 or 5 minutes where it works OK would lead me to suspect a Heat problem.
Do you have a cooler environment where you can test it? Or a fan to blow on it?
I would suggest re-loading the drivers but that Sony site has the download tab disabled.

I found the drivers in http://kdb.sony-latin.com/kdb/go/kdb...tes/index.html i tried them, but didnt work, i dont know about a cooler environment, do you think leaving the computer without the keyboard so the computer is exposed could be usefull to test it?

They make laptop coolers: http://www.google.com/search?q=lapto...r=&sa=N&tab=gw
Which essentially just raise the laptop so the underside gets air & some also add fans.
Just as a test you can use your own ingenuity & fan to try to get air flow to the underside. Or work in front of an A/C.
Any chance there is still a warranty?
