Think someone else had a similar problem to mine earlier in the year, but no answers forthcoming, so hopefully someone here will be able to provide me some pointers to solving this problem. I *think* I might have got hit by a virus yesterday before the problem arose, but not definite about that link. DVD player was functioning fine until last night (after the possible virus hit), when it suddenly refused to recognise any DVDs placed in it - reverting to showing as a CD drive and coming up with empty contents. I've tried reinstalling drivers but that's not worked. I've run AdAware & got rid of the malicious trojans etc and also run Nortons various utilities - still no go. Tried a Sys Restore but it wouldn't restore to the last 3 points (don't want to go back any further than that). Any other ideas on how I could tackle this perhaps? Running WinXP SP2 and have a LiteOn DVD/RW drive. Last files backed up using Nero Express shortly before problem too. First time using this particular component of Nero - have run other components without any difficulty.

S'okay - just got sorted myself. Turns out to (once again) be down to Nero Express - I'd totally forgotten I'd had similar problems with it some time ago, but have now uninstalled it and the DVD drives working FINE!! Hopefully will help anyone else with similar probs tho.
