Hey, it's me again, unfortunately i have a problem with my new motherboard already.
I got my new motherboard last weekend and i installed the sound drivers from the cd that came with the motherboard.
My problem is, when i turn my computer on, the little speaker icon on the task bar doesn't come up, and when i try to play an mp3 on media player, it tells me there is no sound device. I checked device manager and the directx diagnostic thingy and both say i don't have a sound device installed and there are no yellow "!"s in device manager. When i insert my motherboard cd and autorn it, it doesn't display the option to install the audio driver, it only gives me the option of installing the audio driver when the sound is working.
For a temporary fix that sometimes works, i go into BIOS | Integrated periferals and i disable my on-board sound, log on to windows then shut down again, and go back into BIOS and enable the onboard graphics again, and then log onto windows and sometimes my sound works afterwards. I tried this temporary fix today and it didn't work.
Also, when the sound does work, about 2 seconds after i turn my speakers on, they make a quiet buzzing noise that they never used to do. Also, one speaker is louder than the other and when the volume is turned right down to minimum, the quieter speaker still has a small amount of sound. I guess this is just because my speakers are on their way out, but could this be a sign of something?![]()
My speakers are Xsonic and consist of a subwoofer and 2 normal computer speakers. They arent very powerful, but they better than normal speakers.
My Motherboard is:
AMD processor GIGABYTE 2004 7VM400AM-RZ

My dad says i can use his pci sound card if the On-Board is stuffed, but it shouldn't be stuffed![]()
I hope i can fix it, thanks.

Is this the driver you tried: VIA 1616/1617 codec

Device Manager shows that it definitely doesn't have an on-board sound chip driver correctly installed and working. Try booting in Safe Mode and then going into Device Manager. You might see the sound chip installed then and, if you do, I'd recommend removing it. Reboot and Windows might stand more chance of auto-detecting and re-installing it.
Failing that, it does sound like there's a hardware problem with the on-board sound chip (I'm not convinced that your speakers are at fault). You could get in touch with the supplier and maybe have the whole motherboard replaced but, if you've been offered another card, it may be easier just to use that.
I still got my speakers connected to my on-board sound and i still got the problem of the sound not working on first start up. Today when i got my sound to work on the second start up, the windows' sounds for browsing through folders was higher pitched and so was the error/can't do sound. I didn't take much notice of this untill i played an mp3 and i noticed the smaller the mp3, the faster it plays.... Is this a sign of something? like... my sound card is f'd?![]()
