I am reposting the links to your board & manual here & moving this thread to the Hardware Section for others reading there.

My only thought here is the ATX 12v plug is right next to the CPU. Make sure that this is securly plugged.

    Also perhaps clear the CMOS.

    Manual:

Also for an update to new readers the basic issue is a freezing computer with a AMD Athlon™ XP 3200+ CPU running between 57°C - 67°C.

i tried both, and still get the failed messages

im picking up a better heatsink and fan soon, maybe that will help solve some probs, plus my stock one is a bit bent from getting it off, and the fan doesnt sit quite as right anymore, so ima get a new one

As to the voltage failure I haven't a clue. Sorry. I was hoping one of our hardware gurus might pick up on that.

As to the heat I think new components are a good step. I was wondering about the clip problems you were having with the heat sink. Things shouldn't be that hard.

Also as I look into building a new machine I am very interested in H2O:

Wish I could help further but at the moment I just don't know.

You could try the Repair Install of XP but I still think that you have a hardware issue.

"they found it was the cpu cooling bracket that had broke."

Did any of these readings show anything before you started taking things apart?

I haven't come up against this problem before but I would definitely get a new fan/heatsink in there.
