    Computer will not start up.

I bought a new computer last monday, it worked all week. Then friday after work i came home, i pushed the power button and nothing happened. i checked power supply. it is fine, there's power to speakers, monitor etc. On my modem there are three 4 lights, activity, power, link, and ready. the power and ready are on, but normally the link is on as well. there is no light where ethernet plugs in to computer. i've called the helpline, i will more than likely get a replacement thru warranty. But i went to hook up my old computer in the mean time, and i can't get that to fire up either. any ideas?

welcome canuckguy to dal the online computer help forum

when you try to boot your pc are you getting any lights flickering on the harddrive indicater or any beeps or sounds

are you getting any thing at all or is it just dead

if you are getting nothing i wouls say that either you have a loose connection on to your motherborad or an internal fuse has blown on the power supply unit

you should get a replacement either way

    hope this helps

    hi spud

there is absolutely nothing, no sign of any power going thru it. but what i cant get over is that both my computers are doing the same thing. what are the odds of that? thanx for your input. i just trying to see if there something simple that i am over looking.

have you tried a different power cable ? I should imagine that you use the same one on both machines?

yep that is the very next thing i was going to say if both computer are using the same power lead there must be a common fault with either thator a fuse somewhere in the system also try a nother wall socket
