cant install graphics card
I need help here! I've done all I can think of but still no luck.
I've installed a new graphics card (sapphire radeon 9250) and my system cant detect it no matter what I do. Been into the bios and mucked about, but no different. cant seem to disable onboard graphics anywhere (I thought the new card would do this anyway). cant get windows to detect it. When trying to install drivers it tells me it cant continue as there is no compatable hardware then aborts. Am I missing something here? thanks. Steve

What OS are you using? On a machine I worked on for a friend, she had onboard video that could only be disabled via Windows98se's Dev Manager.

It's on a xp pro system. This is the second card with the same problem although both are different brands/mg/etc. Im thinking maybe my asus board is the creator of all problems ive ever had! Strange it cant be found as its where the monitor is plugged in and picture is ok? Or doesnt that matter?

Just to clarify:
You are using this card?
The monitor is plugged into it & working?
You are in XP?
Is it listed in the Device Manager?
What about Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display?

Hi jephree, the card in "trying " to use is the sapphire radeon 9250.
Monitor is plugged in and working
In xp pro
NOT listed in device manager
dxdiag shows N/A in all but display mode 1024x768(32bit)(1hz)
GGgGRRRrrr.
getting angry with this
the other card I had in did exactly the same thing re settings

Go into Device manager and disable the video card listed (dont remove it.)

Interesting. I dont have any video/graphics card listed at all in device manager.
