If it's not a laptop, removing the cmos battery for a while, and/or setting a jumper on the motherboard will reset the bios to password clear, factory defaults.

What is the motherboard make and model number?

The battery looks like a large watch battery, silver in color, about the size of a quarter. ($0.25) They generally tilt up on one side and slip out.

The jumper depends on the motherboard, however it's usually near the battery or cmos chip.

The make/model for the motherboard is most often silkscreened on the board. The letters and numbers are generally the largest on the board. This would help because boards can vary on the methods for clearing the bios.

If this system is running a (Windows) O/S, and connected to the internet, try going here for our on-site hardware scan. I believe the motherboard will be outlined in the results. If not, download and run Everest Home Edition. This (freeware) program provides much information about your system hardware/software along with links to the various hardware manufacturers websites. Using the Report Wizard allows you to save a text or HTML document for All Pages, which you can refer back to without re-running the program again.
