Added new hard drive, now getting errors

Hi. I was having a lot of trouble with my Dell pc so I decided to get a new hard drive. According to my dell book, it suggested I leave my old HD in and connect it to the new one which I did.

Now, Everything is screwy. When I click on my internet connection MS Word opens up and I am getting a ton of errors. I will list them below (not full text but the basic error). Can someone please help. This is so frustrating.

    desktop.dll
    Framedyn.dll
    Srclient.dll
    RunDLL32.exe

What is the OS you are using? Any other changes than just the HDD being added? Also what is the Model of Dell you have?

I am running Windows XP home edition. No other changes except installing some of the software I lost after I had to reformat the old hard drive again. It is a Dell 4400.

Let me understand, you reinstalled the OS and applications to the Old HD or to the New HD? I am currently reading up on Dim 4400s

My computer had been doing weird things like I originally had 4 user accounts created. It would just ramdomly loose a few and the ones remaining I couldn't even click on because somehow it wanted a password. I basically would had to reformat the "old" hard drive. So I got the new hard drive and started installing the OS on the "new" one. Did I mess up?

If I'm reading your post correctly, you have two XP-Home O/S loads on one machine. You haven't "cleared" the old hard disk?

Are you sure your machine is booting to the "new" O/S load? (You should have received prompts for WPA (Windows Product Activation) on every boot until WPA has been achieved.) Having two XP Home O/S loads on the same machine can lead to confusion.

    Please clarify.

are your jumpers on the HD set correctly? i.e the one you want it to boot from is set as "master" and the other one set as "slave"? this was a problem i had, it was booting up from the wrong HD

Thanks for your help. I wound up taking out the old hard drive and reformatting the new one. I had a few issues with installing XP but my disc wasn't cooperating and finally got it too. Everything working great right now. Thanks again!
