    Unhappy DVD Hell

    Hello everyone,
I purchased a DVD Drive last year (MAT****A DVD-RAM LF-D310) and I totally regret it!. The problem is I didnt get any burning software with it and my copy of nero which came with a Cd burner lists the device but it has it crossed out and wont let me burn with it. So the big question is how can I burn a DVD disc (just bought some Imation DVD+RW Discs) im not worried about burning a movie I am just using it a an archive device to make back ups. So all Im buring is data files.
Please help before my machine dies and I lose all my work..
    Many thanks in advance
    simon

A few points from a quick search:

Assuming that your discs are compatible with the drive...

If you open Nero Express and start it BEFORE inserting the
    DVD, you can specify DVD.

In Nero, on the opening page, you have to choose between DVD or CD, in the
upper right hand corner. Also, you must format the disk. InCD must be installed,
this will give you the option to "Format/Prepare disk".

    Hope this helps.

    Hi all
ok just to update. I have a MAT****A DVD-RAM LF-D310 drive and I have just updated to the newest version of Nero. I have also installed Incd 4.
My problem is that I have purchased some Imation DVD+RW discs which I am struggling to use with the above set up. I was told that DVD+RW need formating and to use Incd to do this. However when i put a disc in the drive and right click on the drive icon it hangs for a while and says its not responding. When I remove the disc I can right click without a problem. I read that Incd will display a option page when media is inserted into the drive but it does not with my set up. So am I right in thinking that certain discs will not work in certain drives and if that is the case how do I know what discs to buy for my set up. At the moment I am only tryIng to use the discs to back up to (Data DVD).
PLEASE HELP AS IM GETTING DESPERATE
    many thanks

This drive is not compatible with any DVD+RW disks. Only DVD-RW disks.

If you try to use the + media it may not work at all and be ruined.
