DVD Burner trouble
Well I have this DVD burner, was working fine, then all of a sudden, I go to burn a CD and now it won't read anything. No matter what is in the drive it says "please insert disk into drive g"
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, just re installing drivers, dissabling then re enabling, etc. to no avail.
Only thing I can think of is to check the cables that are possible loose or bad, or the other option that the drive went bad. it is pretty new though and got some good reviews etc so I am hoping that isn't it.
But windows still sees it as a drive and it lights up etc when I put a disc in it and it spins up but nothing ever happens and there is no auto run.
Is there anything I may have overlooked that you guys could reccomend before I start tearing my system apart ?
Thanks

fixed it.
For anyone else encountering this:
What it turned out to be was some quirky misshap with my burning software.
It was called quick burn and it sat down in the running try thing by the clock. That is when I first had the problem (trying to burn a cd) and when I dissabled it my my thing appears to run ok. BTW this is the software that came bundled with the DVD burner, and I havn't had any problems with it before.
Thanks

Thanks for the info socketboy!
BTW are you running XP?
There seem to be alot of posts where XP has issues with third party software, especially symptomed by disk not found errors.
As things are now, are you using the XP CD Wizard? or are you still working with the bundled ware?

No I am actually running win2k. I havn't tried starting up the bundled software again yet, and have also not needed to burn anything yet but I will probly end up getting some other software like stomp or something perhaps from snapfiles.com if I can't get the stuff that came with it working
