    Sound- Ports and Problems

Soundcard= Chaintech 7.1 Channel pci product = VIA ENVY 24PT

Problem- for my speakers, i have the ports on my computer on the sound card and on the front of the case. the only one that will work is the one on the case, and that is run through the sound card. i wouldn't mind that only this port works but, the port is dumb and only the left speakers work... i have to dip the plug in water and stick it in order to get surround sound and that only lasts til the water comes out or w/e. also, my sound card has not passed the Windows Logo Testing.... i don't think this is the reason of the failure of my ports though... but then again i'm wrong a lot.

Not the Problem- the 7.1 sound thing that requires 7 speakers is not the problem. also, in the device manager there is no contradicting problems or w/e. pleeease help.

You need water to keep the contacts in contact?!?! Your plug is worn, bad, or damaged in a way I havent heard of.

The ports on the card, do you have to do the same to get any sound out of those?

lol, I'm not pouring water on my pc, i dip the very end of the sound plug in water... there isn't a full drop on the tip... also, it is not the plug that has problems, it must be the port cause i have used multiple plugs. for the sound on the card i get no sound, or any response at all to any of the 7 ports. nor do i get any response to the port on the back of the case.... just to clarify, the only port i can get any response out of is the one on the front of the case run through the sound card.

Right it could be one of two things.

Either the sound card is knackered and / or the jack in-puts are damaged

    or

The ports at the fornt of the case is over ridding the sound card.

Failing all that DON'T USE WATER in or anywhere near a PC, as water is a better conductor of electricity than metal, but the direction of the electricity is totally uncontrollable.

The reason why its currently 'working' for you at the moment, is because it currently 'bridges' the gap between the contacts inside the jack socket(s) and the jack plug itself. If the water spreads then it could 'bridge' gaps on the card and or the motherbaord which will cause ir-reapairable and untold damaged, also it could set you're PC on fire!

Its worth a try. Remember the orientation the front ports were plugged in...some mother boards are not very clear when you have to put the connections back.
