My DVD drive was working fine, but now the green light turns on for a second but now when i access it nothing the drive doesnt try to read, theres no cd name any ideas

Is the drive seen in the BIOS?

Is it listed under My Computer?

Also check the Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager or go to start/run/ devmgmt.msc for any "!"

Also what is the make & model of the drive?
