    cursor freezes and screen jumps

Occasionally the data (e.g. in MS Word or on MS Outlook mail) on the monitor screen will jump around as if the scrolling feature has taken on a mind of its own. I tried using the mouse to click and stop the jumping around on the screen but it did nothing. The mouse was clean too. Since I thought it might be a problem with the mouse I went and purchased a MS wireless Intellimouse a couple of days ago. Today, the screen jumping problem occurred once again. Even worse, I was working on the computer and the cursor froze on the side of the page. I could not get the cursor to move even after having to unplug the computer and start it back up. I switched back to the original mouse so I can at least use the computer. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be occurring and how to fix it? Thanks.

Did this just start happening out of the blue?

If this is a Microsoft Office issue try either in Word or Outlook to click Help & then Detect & Repair.

If this is a hardware issue then:

Check the Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager or go to start/run/ devmgmt.msc for any "!"

    Also go to START/RUN/ dxdiag

    Open the Display tab.

If you see no errors then post back what is listed under Device.

Or seeing said device do a search online for its' latest drivers.

Note: Before you attempt to update drivers you must uninstall the old.

Boot the computer to Safe Mode options (F8 after BIOS) & choose:
    "Enable VGA Mode".
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
Find your graphics card driver package & uninstall.
While in Control Panel, go to System, Hardware, Device Manager.
Expand (Click +) besides Display Adapter,
Right Click your graphics card, Choose Properties, Drivers, uninstall.
Reboot the Machine - It will re-detect your graphics card.
    Then re-install the drivers.
