No audio when playing DVD RW
How do I get audio to play when watching a DVD?
I can get audio when playing a CD in the DVD drive & the CD player. WMP works with downloaded music.
I tried swapping out the DVD drive with another DVD RW, same problem.
I went into the Control panel checked sound/audio devices.... Looks Okay.
I'm using XP/home older P-4 with SoundBlaster Live card.
Do I need to update drivers for this Lite-on?
Help!!!!
Thanks
First post, I hope I chose the correct Topic.

Thanks,
Yea I tried that. I should have mentioned that in my post. The sound card has a "TAD" "AUX" & "CD" plug on it. I have tried all three to no avail. It plays a CD (audio) with or without the "audio lead" in the DVD player. It's like the DVD is in "mute" mode when playing a video. Although it isn't.

What program are you using to play DVD's?
Did your DVD drive come with any DVD playing software?

You could allways try -
Media Player Classic - http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=84358
Its an open source product and plays DVD's exceptionally well.

Thanks Merkanix & Jephree
I tried both links that you suggessted.
Merkanix, I had some problems downloading the mirror for Media Payer classic. Will try again.
Jephree, I tried the groups-beta.google.com
and found that others are having or have had the same problem. Thanks.
I tried putting a headset to the front jack (per one suggestion) Still no Audio thru the front jack....
I just upgraded to WMP 10 and someone says that WMP 10 doesn't support / play DVD's? I'm pretty sure I was having this problem before WMP 10 upgrade...with WMP 9 also.....
Jephree you asked if software came with DVD player? Yes POWERDVD came with it. & is installed. Would that be creating a conflict between the two players?
Thanks again for your input/advice. & for this and other simular forums.

There is a support section for PowerDVD here:
http://www.gocyberlink.com/multi/pro...n.jsp?ProdId=1
You need to register your copy to utilise the site.
I guess my question would be: are you using PowerDVD to play your DVD's?
If not: have you tried to?

Problem Solved!!!!
That was it. Actually this Lite-on DVD/RW is from a Sept 2003 (manufactured date) and came with POWERDVD 4.0-XP. I went in and updated the drivers (Uh-Der) My bad...
It now works like a charm. Audio is load and clear!!!!!
