Hello, I just got a new ati radeon 9600se. My first problem is that after i installed all the software the card does not show up on device manager or properties. My second problem is it that everything seems to lag. But i would imagine thats an effect of the first problem. Here are my specs:
-WIndows xp
-Intel p4 3.0ghz w/ HT
-1GB DDR Ram
-Soyo SY-p4vtp motherboard
Did you uninstall all the drivers & software from the previous card?
Yeah. i reformatted my computer with this new card.
Is this relevant to you? I see you have a VIA chipset. Is your card an "Accelerator" card? If so:
Just reading here:
http://www2.ati.com/manuals/Getting_Started.pdf
http://www.soyogroup.com/downloads/s...2=282&col3=AllTo ensure a successful installation of your ATI Graphics
Accelerator card, you MUST do the following
BEFORE replacing your current graphics card with your
new ATI card:
Install AGP Drivers for non-Intel Chipset Based
Motherboards. Several AGP motherboard
manufacturers use non-Intel AGP chipsets. Chipsets
include those made by Acer Laboratories (ALI),
Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS), and VIA
Technologies, Inc. Each non-Intel chipset requires
the installation of a custom Virtual GART (AGP)
Driver. This driver is required by your new ATI card
to function correctly with your motherboard. It is
very important that the correct AGP driver be
installed before installing an AGP video card in your
system.
This section applies to AGP Graphic Accelerator
cards only.
An incorrect or missing GART driver can
result in AGP memory not being detected or a
black screen after Windows® loads.
I solved the problem by installing new driveers. But now when i try to play games my computer will either freeze completely, or freeze then exit the game. Any suggestions?
Like just now as i was trying to get into a game my screen went blue and said something about a physical meomory error. And that i had to restart.
Was any of the above relevant? About the Accelerator card etc.?
Outside of that to begin troubleshooting:
Check the Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager or go to Start | Run and type in: devmgmt.msc for any "!"
Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a freeze.
Also: any errors that you see please post exactly word for word if you can.
Hope this helps.

Sorry, nothing relevant there, all the Time errors are related to your internet clock: Control Panel | Date & Time | Internet Time | Synchronise
The only other is a vauge server errror:
Event ID: 10010
Anything in the Device Manager & Also the GART driver? Did you check if this was relevant & if so did you install these drivers?
So nothing explanes the games freezing and then exiting huh?
