I have win XP Home, i have just converted my 120gb HDD from FAT 32 to NTFS.

Now everytime i start up, it will take baout 3-4 times longer then it did on FAT32!!!!!

I think it has somethign to do wiht my stems RAM which is 1024mb or maybe my HDD Cache, but i am still new to comptuers, but if nayone has any ideas please help me out!

i have had the same problem yet on a smaller hard disk. did you find any soloution to this?

I also converted to NTFS and had the same problem. The screen was blank between the XP startup screen and the welcome screen for 1 minute and 10 seconds. I had a cd in the CD ROM and it was reading it, I took it out and the problem was solved.

You all used the (psuedo) DOS 'CONVERT' command?

CONVERT [driveletter]: /FS:NTFS


I know NTFS is inately slower than FAT - but not by minutes?

What service packs are you all on?
