    Angry undetected hard drive

The other day I went back to the computer and awoke it from sleep. It just had a loading icon on the mouse for around 5 min. I restarted the computer and it never got passed the boot and hasn't since! The harddrive is not detected on the bios. also gives message. Media test failed. check cable. I took my computer apart and reconnected power and attached diffrent cable but nothing happened.

    More information might help.

    Machine type and operating system

What hardware was added and/or software was added since the failure?

How far do you get in the startup (does anything show on monitor? Any beep codes?)

What happens when you use a startup disk?

When you opened the computer, did you check to see the cables from the hard drive were completely connected?

The "Media test failed. check cable" refers to an issue with your network card as i think your system is trying to boot over the NIC:

Is the harddisk discovered/recognized in the BIOS ?

If the HDD is not found in Bios as you say, is SMART enabled? Do you hear the HDD spin up? Otherwise you have lost that HDD due to power failure or circuitry failure.
