Was able to get into Bios (Award 2A59CF0H-00: FIC PT-2000). Everything looks good there; tried switching selection from A:,C: to C:,A: in case the floppy drive was bad. No change. Computer is a 'no-name' pc clone given to a friend by her brother. Has no manufactor book. Have motherboard book, but only basic stuff, no help. Any ideas![]()

This is an interesting problem, does it recognised your main hard drive and CD-ROM's during its inital start up????

Comp shuts down while you were cleaning a room? If so were you using any cleaning appliances such as a vaccum? If so then did the electrical system in that room do anything funny such as the breaker being set off, the power going off, any sparks/smoke, etc...you see were I'm going with this? Do you have the computer connected to a grounded surge protector. Your computer might have gotten a sudden surge of electricity which MBs generally do not like.
