Ah good old CR2032 cells, lol.

    Stoddy2k01,

They're only a few pounds to buy in your local PC / electronics shop and they are extremely easy to fit - open up the PC case and it should be totally obvious

This is happening to my laptop. Is it easy to replace a battery on the motherboard of a laptop or should I take it to a repair shop?

    Hi KarynRH,

Although the CMOS / BIOS / motherboard battery is usually the same standard CR2032 type in all modern desktop PCs and they are easy to replace, I don't think the same is true for laptops. At least, not older ones that I open up from time to time. If yours is like most laptops, you'll probably find that the battery is either soldered onto the motherboard or is a specific type that could be hard to get hold of. Unless you already have experience of opening up the insides of your laptop and fiddling around, I would recommend getting help from a laptop specialist (not just your local computer store with a 'service desk' - a proper laptop specialist!).

Thanks. Looks like it's a trip for after Christmas as I've never even replaced the regular battery, much less cracked open the case.

    Thanks for the reply!

I'm getting the same message on my desktop windows xp and I replaced the CMOS battery as well. However, I am still getting the same thing whenever I boot my computer up. What else do I need to do?
