Hi, I bought a new motherboard, processor, and 512 ram. I installed it all and now when i boot up the PC, it just crashes after about 10-30 seconds.
Here are the Specs for the MB and stuff I bought :
- ECS "865-M7" i865GV Chipset Motherboard For Intel Socket 775CPU (LGA775)
-Intel LGA 775 Pentium 4 530J 3.0 GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology
-Dual Channel Dual 256 DDR400
I also put in another 256 from the old motherboard.. if that would change anything. Thanks for any help![]()
That would be your problem, especially if its not the right speed and or voltage.Originally Posted by StabbinHobo
Try running the system without it, and see what happens.
If the machine boots then you'll have to look into getting another piece of RAM at the same speed.Originally Posted by StabbinHobo

Well, I tried running the PC with the new RAM and old. Niether seem to work
. Did you say run it without any RAM, and see if it runs? I did that and it runs so should I buy some new RAM? Thanks again for the help.
Best thing to try is with your old RAM only. Unfortuneatly you can't run a system without RAM.

If the new RAM that you bought is 2.5volt DDR400 or DDR333 or DDR266, then that motherboard ought to support it - at least it should if it's the 1.1 version motherboard, as shown on the ECS web-site here: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Product...=Specification
Have you fitted the new parts with your old hard disk and an existing installation of Windows? If so, this is probably your problem. Fitting a new motherboard almost always requires you to re-install Windows.
Is that what you've done or has your hard disk been formatted?
