When I put a CD in with a program on my CD roms (d or e), it will work, but cannot access the drive from software on C: drive. Use the buttons in "my computer" and machine says drive is not there. What to do?

Is the 'Autorun' feature of the CDs making them start an install routine or open a program? Otherwise, I'm not sure what you mean when you say they are working but you can't access them in My Computer.

I am also encountering the same problem. Software applications on my computer can access my cd and DVD drives but when I attempt to access them from 'MY COMPUTER' I get invalid function. If I put a music cd into the cd drive it will sometimes play it, the next time it will say its a blank cd.???? I built this PC and its been working for about 3 years then last week this stuff started.
