I thinking about buying a graphics card, a Leadtek WinFast A340 GF FX5200 128MB AGP 8X w/TV & DVI to be precise for about $20, first off, is that a rip off, the price, and is this a good graphics card? for games such as Half-life 2ect?
Thanks
Dan

I know things are a bit cheaper in the US than here in the UK but that sounds like an extremely good price! As for the quality, I don't know as it's not a brand that I'm familiar with.
If I wanted to get a graphics card for gaming, I'd buy an ATi Radeon or an Nvidia Geforce. I don't know much about games and compatibility so I'd pay extra to get one of these top-name cards to ensure I didn't have any issues.
Ok, thanks DJ, but I'm pretty sure that that card is a GeForce, and (as much as I would LOVE a GeForce 6800, about $900 AUS, I can't afford it) I just need a simple upgrade, from my GeForce 4 MX440, which is only a 64MB card, so is there any one who can tell me if this card is worth buying for gameplay?
Thanks DJ, I appreciate your help.

Dan
If you just do regular browsing, checking email, viewing short videoclips, playing some old games then 64mb card is right for you. 128mb is more for viewing videoclips and can handle these recent gamesOriginally Posted by nabed4t
Okay, thanks, but what I really need to know is, is this specific graphics card
(Leadtek WinFast A340 GF FX5200), any good for todays games like FarCry, and Half-life 2?
Thanks
Dan
Oh, I see - you're in Australia! In that case, I have absolutely no idea whether it's a good deal or not!Originally Posted by DJNafey

Ohhh...that's a nice price and a good graphic card, and it is also powered by nvidia, ddr full direct x9,,,gf FX5200 deliver best-in class performance and great features..and also can handle any game today...but be sure to use great heatsink...that is the reason why the leadtek product are not expensive
you can changes heatsink if you want...but be sure it is compatible with your MOBO coz it is 8X not 4X...speed...OK

Okay, not to start of, whats heatsink and how do I change it if I need to, also could you please explain MOBO? That would really help, cheers.but be sure to use great heatsink...that is the reason why the leadtek product are not expensive you can changes heatsink if you want...but be sure it is compatible with your MOBO coz it is 8X not 4X...speed...OK

a heatsink is like a peice of metal that transfers heat from a chip or card to that peice of metal. you probably cant change it because its like permanately stuck to the video card. MOBO = motherboard, if you buy an 8x agp card and your mobo can only handle up to 4x then either your card degrades to 4x OR it wont work at all. and if you want to play games like dj said,i really suggest you getting a ATI Radeon or Nvidia card, because their cards are reliable when it comes to gaming and dvd movie viewing.Originally Posted by nabed4t
