my friends keyboard will not type the letters q through to p. he bought another keyboard and it is still the same so it must be the pc.can you help please?.

What if that friend of yours connects his keyboard to your pc ?
If its working ok there, there might be some problem with the PS/2 port on his mainboard.

Or you could try a USB keyboard, just to make sure the keyboard drivers haven't gone west on his PC.
