Fitting a 250Gb Hard Drive
I am trying to fit a second HDD into a PC and I am having problems.
I do not know if the motherboard will not take it or there is a setting in the bios or some other restiction.
I have fitted the Western Digital 250GB and when I go to disk management to format/ partition it, it is only showing 128GB.
The PC has a AMD Motherboard with a Athlon 1.24Ghz Processor.
I can not find the motherboard model number to start looking on their site.
Could anybody advise me

whats your OS? 2000 or XP?

XP should see the full 250, I have a 200 and it sees that. Whats our MB? I will see if there is a bios update.

I can not find any model / revision name on the MB or on the start up listings.
It says that it is an American Megatrends and it has tht following information
Bios ID 62-0913-001131-00101111-071595-SiS730S-M810LR
American Megatrends
09/13/02 Bios Date
OEM Sign-ON Release 09/13/2002 S
Chipset SiS 730 rev 2

128Gb is one of the limits for hard disks that you need an update for. I can't remember whether it's a BIOS limit or an operating system limit but, like AphJN says, Windows XP ought to see it all if the BIOS is reporting it correctly.
I've done a search on your BIOS ID (surprisingly useful!) and found that your motherboard is made by ECS and is a K7SEM model. Incidentally, I also see from the BIOS ID that it uses the SiS 730S chipset, which you can probably see for yourself. A bit of trial and error got me to their web site - surprise, surprise, your motherboard bears the famous quality mark "Made in Taiwan" so their web site is http://www.ecs.com.tw.
Here's a nice picture and a few technical details about your board:

Here's the link to the latest BIOS update for your motherboard, which was created just a couple of weeks ago:

Hope that helps
