    Need advice re computer purchase

I hope you can help me. I'm in computer hell. My desktop computer has problems. Some time ago it stopped allowing me to access anything but my aol mail on the internet. It all started to go wrong when I loaded security software on the thing to "protect" myself. Other problems my desktop has are it won't allow me to back up files to the CD drive. I can use it as a stand-alone computer OR to check email on aol and that's it. BTW, it's oldish running Windows98.

I bought myself a PowerBook and use it most of the time and am happy with it. My problem is I want to set up wireless in my house and I think I need a desktop computer to host the DSL. I have two college age kids, both have a desktop and a laptop, all are running microsoft operating systems. I need everything to be able to run wireless.

I think I need a new computer and I think I have to go with microsoft since I find, using my MAC, there still are some things that don't work with MACs (like my printer). My question is, what is the best microsoft OS these days and am I going to be able to use my mac airport hub to deliver the wireless?

Just looking for your educated opinions.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in here but I found this link Re: AirPort & PC's:

    Cross-platform AirPort Wireless Networks

As to Windows OS I recommend XP Professional.
