    Question Keyboard problems

I recently bought a new computer along with it came a wireless keyboard and mouse. With this compuiter, the mouse works fine however the keyboard does not. Both the mouse and keyboard use the same reciever which is plugged into the PS/2 ports. When I try to type using the keyboard my computer just beeps and also occasionally causes the wireless mouse to lock up until another key is pressed. It is not the computer because other keyboards work with it and it is not the keyboard because it works on other computers. I think the problem might be with the drivers although I'm not sure where. The problem has existed ever since I got the computer. Also the device manager says that it is all working properly, anyone got any ideas what's wrong?

Is there a 'Connect' button anywhere on the transmitter that you might have to press to send the right signal to the keyboard? I've seen that problem before on cordless mice.

If you disconnect the transmitter from the PS/2 mouse port so that only the keyboard is plugged in, does it work then?

Is the PC new and under warranty / support? The manufacturer might be aware of this problem on that particular PC model and might already have a fix that they can give you.

There is a connect button on the keyboard which you have to press although I've done that

I've tried disconnecting the mouse but that didn't work.

I shall try contacting them although last time I tried their e-mail service was down which is kinda typical

    Thanks

I presume that you've put new batteries in the keyboard? Have you tried a different set?

Yeah, I've tried changing batteries. The wierd thing is it works perfectly on my other computers so the keyboard itself is working, and other keyboards work with the computer so there must be some compatibility problem or something. Oh and another detail I forgot to mention is that sometimes when pressing keys (with a word processor open) a letter/ number will end up being written but will be the wrong letter/number for the key pressed. (eg. pressing T and it coming up with a 5 or something)

If you just purchased the computer isn't it still under warranty? If so I would have whomever I purchased it from replace either the keyboard or the computer, just my 2 ¢

Yes, I would agree. That last bit of information was pretty important Kuro - sounds like a faulty keyboard.

Problem is I do not believe either are faulty . I think replacing either or both the computer and the keyboard would just mean unecessary waiting only to find in the end the same problem occuring. I have now tried using the keyboard with 2 other computers. There is absolutely no problems with them.

I have managed to get the keyboard semi-working now on this computer. By semi-working I mean that about half the time key presses do not register correctly or at all. On the other computers I tried using my keyboard with there were absolutely no rejected key presses. There is always the possibility some third party object is causing interference to the keyboard (although strangely if this is the case the mouse does not seem to be effected and also would hvae to cause interference to both channels the keyboard can be switched too). But considering I have had this computer in 2 seperate rooms it would almost certainly have to be part of the computer. I do have a wireless network card but tried unplugging the antenna and still there is the unregistered key presses. I have also tried moving the keyboard's reciever to various different spots in case wiring etc is causing a problem but no matter where I put it it seems to act in the same way.

This problem has certainloy got me confused because it doesn't seem to make sense, everything seems to work but for some reason, doesn't.
