hi, my dvd drive (pikaone IDE1004) has never had any problems til recently. it's now saying in my computer, that its a cd drive. i can play dvd's still, but its a long-winded way of doing it - i double click on the drive which opens it (whereas it used to just play the film) then i have to go through whatever folders are on the disk (usually video ts) and find the right file in that folder that i want to play.

i can still burn disks so that isn't a problem, i'd just like to be able to play them in a straightforward way again!

please help!!!

Have you deleted(removed) the drive from Device Manager and let windows redetect it?
