Here's my problem-I just recently upgraded my computer from an old "slow" Ath 1.4 Thunderbird and a Shuttle AK31 MB running Windows XP Home to the specs above. For a short while, I was able to run it smoothly, but then the problems started.

I think that the main problem, at least at first, was that there was an errant "wake on" setting in the BIOS. Every time I turned my computer off, it would boot right back up again, forcing me to switch it off at the back. This seems to have caused serious strain on my 2 80GB hard drives, causing me to reinstall Windows several times, and finally leading to the point where neither would work for more than a week at a time before my registry was corrupted. It's possible that it was a virus, but, IMHO, very unlikely, as I formatted before each reinstall, and I always installed an up-to-date scanner(McAfee) first thing after installation.

Well, now I have fixed the boot up problem. The computer turns off just fine. Unfortunately, Windoes XP seems to be refusing to install on my new SATA drive. Now, I know this is tough, as I have tried (and failed) to do it before. Unfortunately, there are new problems cropping up now. Whenever I try to install XP, I always start by putting in the nVidia ATA bus driver, which is required for any successful install. Then, I try to put on the Sil 3114 driver. At that point, windows tells me the driver is corrupted. And it should know-the error checking codes are on the same disk. However, this has happened with two different versions of the driver, from two different sources(one from the MB disk, the other from Silicon), and on two different copies of win XP(one Pro, one Home). This leads me to believe that the driver is not in fact corrupted, but I don't know what else could be happening.

Any help would be appreciated.
