You need a 'mini DIN to phono' cable. The mini DIN jack is the same size and shape as the connector on headphones or PC speakers. You plug that into the speaker output on your PC's sound card. Then you plug the two phono leads at the other end into a suitable input on your hi-fi, such as 'Auxiliary In'.
When you play any sound on your PC, such as music through Windows Media Player, it will come out of your hi-fi speakers.
Of course, if you don't have a suitable input on your hi-fi, it can't be done.
Does that help?

Yeh thanks I know what to do now. But I dont know what type of cable i need
can you find me a link or picture of a suitable one please? BTW: I need it quite long because the hi fi and pc are at opposite ends of the room.
Thanks.

You need a 3.5mm stereo jack(ie one small headphone jack) - stereo phono(ie two standard phono plugs): http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/PGA3402.html
if you live in the uk and dont want to order off the net, try Argos, Dixons, PC World or even your local DIY superstore(look in the section that has all the tv/coax cables etc)
btw: if you want a reaaaalllyy long one (no longer than needed though), you can either buy a twin phono to phono extension lead (try and get one that has a 'male' and 'female' at each end , or buy two phono connection barrels to join up the two long leads), or you can make your own!! Get down to Maplins or a decent electronic/audio component store, and ask them to give you what you need to make the cable yourself (should be 2 phono plugs, one stereo 3.5mm headphone jack, alot of unbalanced audio cable, a soldering iron and some solder). Get a knowledgable friend (or relative) to show you how to make it up if your not confident about doing it.
