Monitor continually goes into "sleep mode"
Wow this is driving me crazy - would really appreciate some insight into this...
I used to have a F700P LG Flatron. Occasionally it would not "wake up" when i turned trhe comp on (amber light on the front would stay on and not power up).
I figured it was a fault with the monitor. The agreed on an exchange and infact gave me a free TFT upgrade to a LG 1710B. Now, what i don't understand is i seem to have developed a degenerative problem. At first (4 weeks ago) the monitor was wonderful - worked fine no probs. Then a couple of weeks ago, it would begin to do what the F700P did - not power on at start up. This meant i would have to hard reset the PC and turn the 1710B on just was it was powering up, which helped kick it out of sleep mode.
Occasionally i would get "DVI Power Save mode" or "DSUB Power Save mode" up, and pushing the "Source" button would usually help adhust the correct input (for some reason i have 2 displays in the Display Settings dialogue - i think one must be my old monitor).
Anyway last week the monitor went into permanent sleep mode - like a flashing green light on the front. I managed to wake it up this weekend but was not sure how i even did that. I was told by customer services at LG that the monitor refresh rate was too high, which was causiong the issue - so i changed it as advised down to 60hz as per manufacturers guidelines.
Well turned off the PC last night and back on again today and same problem! This is so frustrating - i am running it at 1280x1024, as spec'd by the manual. I am on XP SP2, 9700 Pro, and think this might be a problem with ATi drivers (i have the latest installed - a simialr post on these boards was raised by someone with the latest ATi drivers).
I have no idea how to fix this. I have a new 1710B on my desk at work waiting to be tried at home that LG has shipped me. I'm preying that this one will work and not respond in the same exact manner as the last one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you set it for the monitor to never go into sleep mode in Control Panel/Power options? I have an LG Flatron and always turn the power switch on the front off at night.
