cliche phrase: please help me!
So here's the deal: I have always wanted to connect my pc to my television, so that can act as my pc's monitor. I read up on it and I bought a vcr/dvd player (needed one anyway) with an s-video out in the back. My nVidia GeForce2 GTS graphics card already had a s-video out on it, so once I bought the cable, I was all set. I connected the vcr/dvd player with my tv just fine, and connected the s-video cable just fine as well. I then updated my drivers for the card. I was following tutorials on how to go about doing all of this, and the step that stopped me in my tracks was where I had to "Clone" the monitor to the television. That option(this is in Display>Settings>Advanced>GeForce2 GTS>nView mode(or something like that)) didn't exist, so I figured my card was out of date. This, however, was just the beginning. I made many attempts to simply keep trying to switch the display over to my tv (which it said it regconized) and my pc monitor would then just shut off, and come back on within about 5 seconds. And the tv wouldn't respond at all (it was on, mind you, just made no reaction to the switch I was attempting to make). Getting very frustrated, I was searching around the new, different options that came with my new graphics card driver, and I activated a conveinient toolbar for it. It showed the TV icon on there, and when I clicked it, the same thing happened. The monitor shut off...but this time, it didn't come back on. I've turned the power off and restarted my computer multiple times manually, and it shows the beginning Windows XP screens and such, but then shut off once it gets to the user-select screen. I suppose that the "TV mode" is just stuck, and that I have to get back through all of those menus to shut it off, but since the monitor isn't on, and I am blind in doing this. I was thinking maybe there's a huge amount of keyboard shortcuts I could use to get back through all of this, or just blindly search my way through all of it again...but that would be almost impossible. I am on my brother's computer right now, in case you were wondering how I typed all of this. It would be VERY VERY VERY greatly appreciated if you could help me in this dilemma, the only thing I can offer you would be my eternal gratitude, however. Question the hell out of me if any of this doesn't make sense. Thanks.

Try starting in safe mode options: (repeatedly tap F8 after bios POST prior to windows)
then choose "enter VGA mode"

ok, i entered VGA mode and everything was large and the color was dull and low. As soon as I tried to change my resolution and color setting back to normal, the monitor goes off, just as before. Also, under Display>Settings>Advanced>my graphics card tab has dissapeared. thank you for giving me some help and hope in this matter.

Ah! I got it, I just reinstalled the drivers. Thank you very very much, I hope it wasn't too much trouble.

No trouble at all
I should have gone to the next step & mentioned the drivers
Was just making sure you could get safe.
