Got my new sata hdd yesterday, fine. set it up as silicon image 3114 sata raid controller for windows xp. (oh yah, ive got windows xp home edish)

i emailed the seagate boys and got a reply today, them saying, unless i really want to, i should'NT bother with the whole raid system. ah well. what else is there...

id love to say the computer worked fine yesterday, but i was having - as usual - system criticals, i startup, i sent the send error report and it was mentioning -it as a CPU problem?! doh. yet i believe i updated all the microsoft components up to SP2. i also installed all the gubbins from the MAX3 MB CD.

note also - my old pc had problems most likely due to me(its effectively the same pc, just new hdd), something hasnt been right since ive had all the stuff.

Newest problem - computer will not start. either in safemode, or last working config. i reset bios to norm. no working. it blue screens after an initial showing of the microsoft logo with the flashy light going left to right

cannot run windows repair from CD, no hdd is found.
cannot find any problems when i 'ctrl+s' into sata drive info.
pc health check in bios seems ok... unsure as to what i would be looking for anyway

i had that problem when i tried installing my new SATA HDD. windows xp setup never found a hard disk. what i had to do was copy the raid drivers from my motherboard onto a floppy and when windows xp was installing i hit F6 for a third party or raid driver and it installed xp controller and it worked. just an idea to try.
