    Sound only from one speaker

I installed a graphics card on a Compact Deskpro PC (Pentium MMX approx 160Mhz with 96MB ram. However only sound from one of the speakers (the left one i.e. the one without the controls).

My brother reckons it is a faulty soundcard as he doesn't believe this is a software thing.

Does anyone have any practical suggestions

P.S. Soundcard is a Belkin make using Fortmedia FM801 drivers (I have 2 desktop speakers only).

on my old set of speakers there was a cable that connected the 2 speakers together that u put it, check that, then check if the audio plug is completely in the soundcard

I have found out cause of problem now. This is what I did
    a) Lead from CD ROM to soundcard has two connectors one end to go on the soundcard. The black connector connected to line out I removed from it's socket and turned 180degrees and refitted. I did the sound test and found to be coming from the other speaker this time. Therefore there was a problem with the lead or the sound card connection
    b) Then I thought I might as well try the other connector on the cable i.e. the white one. Found a connection marked PANA on the soundcard and connected it. Did the sound test and found both speakers working fine.
