Odd Mechanical moises...
Hello everyone, I seem to be in a bit of a bind here...
(Im using another computer that is on my network, as my main is totally useless right now.)
All was going well for me this morning, I was making a copy of a CD, minding my own buisness, when my computer started making odd, grind/click like noises. Soon after my computer totally froze up, and now I cant even get past the boot up screen when I go to turn it on. Nothing is burning, my fans work, everything is how it should be, I can power it up fine, boot up screen pops up and then I freeze once again, and these noises...
I hope to get this cleared up, and I'll do my best to awnser furthur questions.
-Thanks.
*Edit* I meant Noises in the title.

What OS do you have? Sounding more and more like a head crash or at the very least a bad sector in the boot portion.
-
Windows Xp Home. It is definitley the hardrive.

I am sure its the HDD, its just a question of what the cause is. If it buzzes repeatedly just after the statup screen then there is a bad sector. Since its XP, boot to the CD and go through the recovery consol. When you are at a dos prompt, type in Chkdsk /f. This will attempt to find and fix any problems on the drive. If it cant then there is a sector it cant recover or there is so much damage that the onboard HW couldnt move the data.

It's not really a buzzing noise... It sounds like something is out of place, a click/tap, click/tap sort of thing. I cant boot from my windows CD or even a floppy, once I start up my computer, it freezes before I can do anything.

Click slap/Tap etc. those are signs that the HDD has found a bad sector and the hardware has no more room left to relocate it. If you put your XP Cd in and have BIOS set to boot from CD first, you should be able to then get to the recovery consol.
