Angry FF 301 - Keyboard Error

Someone gave me a Compaq computer that his company was getting rid of. He said it worked fine & the company was just upgrading. When I pluged it in I recieved this error as soon as it started loading:

    FF 301 - Keyboard Error
And at bottom right displays Compaq Deskpro
    (F10 = Setup)

Nothing happens when I press F10 - cant get into setup.
Ive tried it with another keyboard and get the same error.
The lights flash on the keyboard upon turning it on but after that it seems dead

Hope you can help. Thanx, Barbara.

Have you got the mouse and keyboard plugged in the correct sockets??

Oops, Boy did I Goof. I am so very sorry!
My boyfriend hooked it up and I assumed he had hooked it up correctly!
Now I have another question -
Don't know if I should start a new thread.
    PLMK.
This computer has Win 2000 Professional.
It was on a Network and is password protected.
I have been in the CMOS and cannot change anything.
Same with F8 when windows starts.
I've heard you can set the dip switches to off and let it set for a while.
    Done that, didn't help.
What about changing the jumper from pins 1 & 2 to pins 2 & 3?
If that doesn't work, what else can I do?
    Thanx for your help, Barbara.

if it's a bios (power on) password; then yes; clearing the cmos (switching jumpers) should clear it.

if you mean that windows has a password then that's a different question.
