Second Hard Drive Won't Format
Hi, please forgive me if this has been covered already, I've performed several searches but couldn't find an answer. I purchased a second-hand hard drive for my husband's pc (which is running XP). We successfully installed it as 'slave' with the present one as 'master'. The new one is FAT32 which I am trying to convert to NTFS by formatting the drive. However, when formatting, it gets about half-way then just stops! We left it for several hours but it stayed the same. The PC picks up the drive and it appears to be fully recognised with full space, so am wondering where I've gone wrong.
Is it possible to format a secondary drive using the XP disc?

Go into computer management and then storage. Select Disk management and then select the drive with Fat32. Right click and delete partition. Right click again and select New Partition. When its finished with the partition it will ask if you want to format it. Yes, then select NTFS or whatever you want and always use quick format unless you really feel the need to spend a year or longer waiting on it verifying each sector.
