    no sound

i am now having problems posting so forgive me if this gets posted a million times.

i recently got a new computer at work, a powerspec, and hooked it up to my old monitor and speakers. i have no sound even though the volume is up all the way. i was wondering if there was some simple solution to my problem. thanks.

Is volume set to mute in Start. Programs. accessories. Entertainment. Volume control ?
Have you plugged speakers into correct socket on PC?

the volume isn't muted and the plug is in the right slot. i get a little bit of sound if i listen real close but the volume is up all the way and if i sit back i can't hear it. i don't know alot about computers but i would think it would have to do with the computer not recognizing the speakers for some reason or another.

More daffy questions...Is the plug green or pale green you are plugging into? Also, are your speakers amplified or not?

the plug itself is blue the socket is pale green. almost white actually. amplified??? i have no idea. they are the speakers that came with an old hp. polk audio is what it says on the speakers. other than that i know nothing about them.

Do the speakers have a power cord or power brick? If not then they are probably unamplified and you have a lineout that needs amplification.

there is no power cord or power brick. there is one wire out of each speaker. those wires plug into an adapter type thing that then plugs into the back of the computer. there is an open socket that is labled subwoofer. ?????

These are, by all reports, unpowered speakers. the original Soundblaster spec had an amplified output as well as an unamplified. If you old system had an amplified then you wouldnt need amp'd speakers and this would make sense.

Do you have another set you can borrow that is amplified?
