Freezing computer, can't find solution.
I was running Windows ME on my IBM Netvista computer. Everything was working fine and then it began freezing. After having little luck with it, I shut it down and left it alone. I just returned to this computer a few days ago and installed Windows XP, in hopes of fixing the problem. I did an upgrade, and had little luck. I then thought it might be my RAM. I removed one of the two sticks, started it up, and it froze again within the first few minutes. I then switched the sticks and had success for an evening. The next morning when I turned it on again, it quickly froze again while I clicked on the start menu. I then put both sticks of RAM back in, ran the Windows XP set-up, and did a complete installation, rather than an upgrade. It froze again, in the start menu. I then cleaned the dust off the fan and the heat sink on the video card and started again, only to have it freeze once again. I was wondering if anyone might know what's going on with my computer.

As you have the freezing issue with 2 seperate OS installations it would seem the issue is hardware related and not the fault of the OS.
Try running a memory checker program like AIDA32:

I'm assuming you have the latest and correct drivers for your hardware/OS configuration?

I'm not sure about the latest driver issue. All I did was install XP. It told me it was going to download all kinds of good things from the internet for me.
