new NAS, won't save Quark files - HELP!
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but here it goes.
Had a problem with Linksys NAS, an EFG80 unit. They told us to send it back for a warranty replacement, but no longer made the EFG80 and upgraded to EFG120.
Our tech vendor had to recover the data from the old hard drive and place it on the new drive. All seemed to go fine, data was double checked, the unit's reinstallation to the network went smoothly. However, now ALL QuarkXPress documents open as corrupt and after opened, cannot be saved directly back to that drive - it must be saved first to the network or a PC, then to the drive. One would assume that the data transfer might have corrupted these files, except that any NEWLY CREATED Quark document is experiencing the same problems with saving and also opens corrupted. Saving to disk returns the following error: Cannot write to disk. (-61).
Linksys and Cisco techs have given up, saying that since it's only Quark documents that are a problem, it's not the machine causing it. We are desperate, since the majority of our work is in Quark!
I keep thinking that maybe it has something to do with fonts, but I don't have any real basis for that thought. Anybody have any suggestions?
