wont boot up

    wont boot up

    dont really know how to frase this question so will just tell you all what happend

    freind of mine needed an older mother board for his pc so i give him mine an he bought me a brand new one + some 512 ddr

    anyways swapped my motherboard to his pc swapped processors an ram
    his worked fine then install my stuff put my processor on my new board my graphics card blah blah so on

    when i turn it on it sounds like its booting up but nothing is coming up on the sreen the screen is turned on i tried a different graphics card an still the same problem an there is no beeps on startup to tell me what the problem is

    im thinkin its either the memory or the cpu but can anybody give me any help i will be extremly gratefull

    Is the internal speaker connected correctly, you should at least get 1 beep for the BIOS routine checking out OK.

    yeah it is an i know its workin because i unplugged the cpu fan an it went off its head

    lol processor is still workin i plugged it into my bros pc last night an its fine

    im really thinkin its the ram gonna take it back the shop tommorow its a bitch bein without my comp at home though

    Can you borrow your brother's memory and try that as well? If it still doesn't work, which is quite possible, then that will tell us that there's nothing wrong with the new memory. I've built a lot of PCs in my time and I don't think I've ever had brand new memory that was faulty when I got it.

    Did you take a lot of anti-static precautions when you fitted your new parts or did you lay the base unit down on the carpet in the same room and do it there?
