Please can someone help??

I have just brought a emprex1016im dvd writer, i installed it no probs and updated the fireware, but still can not burn dvd-r's with nero 6.3 on it.

The disc's i am using are Datawrite yellow and Packard bell. Every time i burn a dvd and try to play it in a dvd player it does one of three things. The player says wrong disc or screen goes black, or the film will play very slow frame by frame then stop after about 15 secounds. But when i put them in a PS2 they play sometimes or they have a repeated blip half way through.
I have looked about and found that some people in the USA use fuji disc's with this writer which i will be trying.
But anyone who thinks they can help me, it would be helpful

Is it a region problem? Is your DVD-writer a UK* product and did Nero come with it? If so, it should all be working on Region 1* (I think) which should then run in your UK* DVD player.

*assuming that you're in the UK. Other areas of the world also work in different regions.

I brought it from PC world and it is set for Region 2. I have found that TDK disc's do work. So Datawrite yellow are not compatible with this writer.
