    Angry CPU Problem

My system is a P4S5A P4 motherboard fitted with a 2.4 processor. Recently on startup it displayed the information that the processor is only 1.8. I have reviewed all the CMOS & BIOS settings and cannot find any reason why it should have changed, other than I have installed an addition 512mb of memory.

Can anyone help or explain why the processor is now only running at 1.8?

    Thanks

Er, thanks, I think. I don't have an AMD procxessor, or am I looking in the wrong place?

No problem. Thanks at least for responding. I had been tearing my hair out for a week with the problem. Thought I had picked up a virus, even though the av software didn't detect anything.

    Regards.

So what was the solution, FSB settings? Software misreporting? Do tell, others may find it usefull.

Checking all the settings on the BIOS/CMOS set up, the CPU PnP had set to 100/100, 100 x 18 = 1.8. I reset the values to 133/133, as both memory modules are 133, and it came back to 2.4. No idea how the value got set to 100, but had bought a faulty memory module at first and had to replace it. It may have been then, but I didn't notice it until later.
