Newb needs help
Hello.
I have a problem. Whenever I play a game (and occasionally, just use Word or Photoshop) my system crashes in one of two ways. The first is that the screen goes blank, sound keeps playing and a message comes up saying: VPU recover has switched hardware rendering off, as your graphics card was not responding to commands". The second is just a blank screen and repetitive noise.
I don't know what to do. I'm running XP and my CPU is an AMD duron with 1.26 Ghz and 512 MB memory. Is there anything you can suggest? Any way I can help someone formulate a response?
I'm going nuts over here.

im guessing you have an ati graphics card because mine was doing the same ( i am not hijacking the this log as i have fixed mine and am sharing some info )
first of all try reading this
also what i did was tried turning off vpu recovering, it helps in someways but makes more problems in other ways ( doesnt crash as much but when it does its usualy worse )
also on the ati site it suggests changing settings using SMARTGART, it's in the ATI control panel.
Right click on your desktop, select properties -> settings tab -> advanced -> SMARTGART.
Turn off fast-writes, reboot, and make sure you have your motherboard chipset drivers installed.

OK, I'm trying AGP write "off", and I may fiddle with the BIOS. Thanks for the help so far.

Oh!
My main man. It worked, it seems. I changed the BIOS settings as per ATI instructions, and it appears to run.
Bizarrely, I can also play DVD's without them skipping.
Nice work, my friend.
