My W2K sys had 4 HD, 2 optical, 1 floppy on an 400w Power Supply. No apparent probs.
I replaced a failed 40G with a 160G Seagate. Upon restart, everything shut down after 1 second, requiring a complete hard power-cycling to get any power-button response. After testing various scenarios, pulling out the floppy reduced the start-up load enough so that all HDs spun up and worked properly. I never missed the floppy... Its been running fine for a few months.
Unexpected power outage, and now I can't get the system to spin up at all with that Seagate HD plugged in. I've pulled the power on other drives with no luck, and the box starts and runs fine with Seagate power pulled...
Any ideas...?
Thanks

You've overloaded your power supply matey. You'll need something in the region of about 500 to 600 watts!!!!!Originally Posted by spud
